*This is a sadstuck, so if you don’t enjoy reading them then this is your warning, also don’t comment about hating this ship, you don’t have to like it, but it doesn’t mean my writing is terrible because of it.*

-Aradia’s POV-

I couldn’t help but smile at the text I received yesterday from Sollux , we talked for a little while and he asked  if tomorrow I wanted to go to the nearby park and get ice cream with him. I couldn’t help but say yes, he’s my moiral…but I really like him…like him a little bit more than a moiral. I wouldn’t want to tell him if it risked losing our friendship, I wouldn’t want to lose an amazing friend like Sollux.

People think he’s just a jerk and a computer geek, but they don’t know him like I do. He’s actually really sweet and caring and always listens to what I have to say.  He always stands up for me and supports everything I do, I don’t know what I would do without him.

I put on a red shirt and some jeans and got ready to walk to the park, which is only a few blocks away from my house. I promised him that I would meet him there.  I started walking and enjoyed the crisp fall air, fall is my favorite season. The leaves on the trees change to vibrant reds and oranges and delicate yellows that cover the ground in a colorful blanket. It wasn’t too chilly either, but there was always a nice calming breeze that greets you when you walk outside.

I walked by the local pet shop and decided to visit Tavros to see how he was doing. I pushed the door open and smiled as the little bell attached to the door goes off. Tavros was playing with a kitten through the bars of one of the cages.

“Hi Tavros!” I smile. He looks up from the kitten he was playing with and smiles back.

“Hi Aradia, why’d you stop by?” he asked.

“I wanted to see if that kitten you were talking about got adopted.”

Tavros had told me a week ago about a kitten he found on the street.  He got really upset that someone had just dumped her there and didn’t care. Tavros loves animals, especially kittens, although he is allergic to them. Luckily they have medicine that can help with that.

“No, she’s still here. I wish I could take her, but my apartment doesn’t allow cats, and it probably wouldn’t be super healthy for me either.” He sighed.

“Does she have a name?” I asked.

“No, the owner doesn’t let us name them, something about the owners feeling pressured to keep the name… I don’t know, it sounded more like an excuse to me.” Tavros said with a hint of sadness.

I look over at the kitten. She’s light gray with white paws and has beautiful green eyes.  She’s quite adorable.

“Well I have to go, I’m meeting Sollux in the park. I hope you find someone who wants to adopt her though.” I smile and wave.

“Bye!” Tavros yells back as I close the door.

The park was only a few feet away, all I had to do was cross the street, which was easy since it wasn’t that busy of a road. Sollux was sitting on a bench talking to someone, which was odd, he didn’t tell me he had other friends coming as well. I walk up the bench and recognize the girl he is talking to, her name is Feferi, she just recently moved here.

“Oh hey Aradia, this is my friend Feferi. I hope you don’t mind that I invited her, but she’s new around here and I wanted to show her around.” Sollux said with his lisp, he had a hard time pronouncing the letter s.

“Umm, sure, that’s fine. Nice to meet you Feferi.” I smiled at her.

“Nice to meet you too Aradia!” she said with a large grin on her face.

She seemed like a nice person, and VERY cheerful on top of that. She had very long and curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes, she was very pretty to say the least. I’m happy Sollux is being nice to her, but I hope he doesn’t ignore me, if he does I guess that’s ok…

We started walking to the ice cream shop a few blocks away from the park. I brought my own money because I hate when people pay for me, it’s just a personal preference.  Feferi was talking about her old home and her family but I wasn’t really paying much attention. All I noticed was that Sollux was paying deep attention, more than when I talk to him, but I’m sure he’s just trying to be nice and learn more about Feferi.

I opened the door to the shop and smiled at the aroma inside. It always smelled like warm vanilla and fruit and was chilly.  It didn’t take me long to decide because I knew what I wanted before I got here. I love strawberry and vanilla soft serve, so I always get them swirled together. I grabbed a cup and got it myself watching as it swirled into the cup, the machines always fascinate me even though they’re fairly simple. I went up the register, payed, and sat down. I waited for Sollux and Feferi to decide what they wanted.

Sollux just ended up getting chocolate and vanilla and I had no clue what Feferi got, something fruity by the looks of it. We left and started walking around the park and eating. Feferi kept talking and talking, not to be mean but it got a little bit annoying after a while. She finally stopped for a moment and I decided to tell Sollux about the kitten that Tavros found.

“Did you hear about the kitten that Tavros found? Poor thing was wondering on the streets. I don’t understand how people can do stuff like that and not care. She’s been there for almost a week, I hope someone adopts her.” You sigh.

“Wow, yeah I guess that does kind of suck.” Sollux replied.

That was odd, normally Sollux cares more about what I say, maybe his mind is just full of other things right now. Yeah, that’s it, he’s probably thinking about something really important.  After I finished talking Feferi just started talking again. I finished my ice cream and threw it into a nearby trashcan.
It was getting late and I was probably going to go home soon. Feferi and Sollux were holding hands, I couldn’t keep pretending anymore. He likes her, she likes him. I’m just a friend, that’s all I’ll ever be.

“I’m going to go home, I have a lot of laundry to do.” I lied.

“Alright, well I hope to see you again Aradia, it was nice meeting you.” Feferi smiled.

“Yeah, it was nice meeting you too.” I smiled, even though it hurt to do so.

I went home and sat curled in a ball on my bed, I had no clue how long they’ve known each other, but in that short time she managed to get Sollux to fall in love with her. It’s not like I should be sad though, I never had a chance in the first place.

My phone buzzed, implying that I had received a text message, it was from Tavros.

TN: “Aradia guess what! That kitten got adopted, her name is Tulip.”
AM: “Who adopted her?”
TN: “Sollux did actually, he said it was for a friend of his, I forget her name.”
AM: “Would that name be Feferi?”
TN: “Uhh…yeah…her name was Feferi. How did you know?”
AM: “Lucky guess.”
TN: “I’m sorry, I know you liked Sollux, I think the only person who didn’t know was him.”
AM: “It doesn’t matter, it’s not like he would have ever liked me back.”
TN: “Don’t say that! That’s not true Aradia!”
AM: “I just need to be alone for a while.”
TN: “Just promise me you won’t do anything stupid.”

-Sollux’s POV-

Today was great, you had spent the day with two of your favorite people. Your phone dinged, signifying that you had gotten a message.

TN: “You really hurt Aradia’s feelings, I hope you know that.
SC: “How?”
TN: “Well… you kinda hit it off with Feferi, even though someone liked you a long time before she did.”
SC: “Who?”
TN: “C’mon, I know you’re smarter than that.”
SC: “Are you trying to say AA…likes me?”
TN: “Sollux, she’s liked you for about the past two years!”
SC: “I thought she hated me.”
TN: “What made you think that?”
SC: “I don’t know, I liked her, but I thought she didn’t feel the same way…and then I met Feferi.”
TN: “You’ll be lucky if she ever even talks to you again, she was crushed.”
SC: “Well, how do I fix this then?”
TN: “I don’t know, I don’t even know if you can.”
